TCI 2010: Censored

TCI 2010: Censored

From the design team that brought you The Way Up and Videotape comes TCI’s 2010 program Censored.

Inspired by the words of figures including President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Philosopher Joseph Tussman, and Musician Frank Zappa, TCI will present the debate and allow the audience to draw a personal conclusion as to the necessity or hindrance of censorship.

Continuing the trend of exploring relevant societal themes, Censored will feature music from the French composer and pianist Erik Satie, as well as hip-hop legends Beastie Boys. The censorship theme will integrate into musical and visual phrases, at times not letting you see what you want to see or hear what you want to hear.

As the ensemble prepares for its second full season in the World Class, they look forward to again making the trip to Dayton, Ohio in April 2010 for WGI World Championships.

In addition to the visual and musical production, the show will again be accompanied by online content to enhance the viewer’s experience. Follow along with articles and other media at www.tobecensored.com.

Pushing the ensemble’s goals past the confines of gymnasium walls, TCI will use their 2010 production to reach into the community and make a positive difference. No matter your age, location, or musical abilities, you will have the opportunity to become a part of TCI’s show and join in on this community project. Please stay tuned for details here at the website and on our other internet portals for information about this portion of the show. Big announcement coming soon.

For the 2010 season, TCI is happy to bring back the blog that helped tell the story of the show. Last year, with www.onyourvideotape.com, audience members got to see behind the scenes videos, pictures, and articles describing the pros and cons of surveillance.

Continuing the trend of media and online interaction throughout the season, be sure to bookmark this year’s blog, www.tobecensored.com, for updated insights on TCI’s 2010 season, and information about censorship in its many forms.

Two L’s & Two T’s

July 9th, 2009

Please welcome Elliott Kl■ber to the battery staff for 2■10.

Not Missy Elliott, or Joe Elliott from Def Leppard, or even Late Night writer Chris Elliott, but Elliott Kl■ber: one of the best sets of ears we have ever had the honor and fear of working with — perfect, consistent, and brutally honest like Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. Elliott will be working with the battery program and taking the ■CI to the next level.

Jeremy Br■wn joins M■tt Verburg and Clif W■lker as a Co-Director for the 2■10 season. Our mission of education and maximum member experience can become even more of a reality with Jeremy involved full-time.  We will now have a director dedicated 100% to the creative/instructional program (W■lker), a second to the business aspect (Verburg), and a third to the member/operations piece of the puzzle (Br■wn).   Brown is one of our favorite colors.
